Desk in my room- lamp, candle, pictures, Frisbee...

Water filter and electricity regulator-for when we have electricity..

This is where my host family cooks outside, washing clothes/dishes. All extra food, trash, and water goes down the indent in the mud.

The latrine that I use for bathroom and bucket bath. Under the board is the hole in the ground...don't look in, just use your imagination..

The other side of the latrine where I bucket bath.
If it doesn't rain for a while, we have to get water from another well down the road (its okay for me to wear shorts when I am at home, but I wear long pants or skirts everywhere else)

  2. Wow! I really appreciate that you shared this. I was a volunteer in Ebolowa (at the cocoa marketing co-op) between 1980 and 1983. Here I am reading your post several years after you put this together. Thanks!
